What is a Courtesy Firearm Transfer Service?
Due to governmental state and federal gun laws, selling or transferring firearms are subject to various restrictions. Because of these restrictions, a firearm sometimes has to be transferred between two Federal Firearm License (FFL) holders before an individual can take possession of it.
Below are just a few examples of when this may be required. It is not a complete list. If you would like more information concerning these regulations, you may contact the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
- An individual wishes to purchase a firearm from another individual who lives in another state.
- An individual wishes to purchase a handgun from a dealer or auction site in another state.
- An individual wishes to purchase a rifle or shotgun from a dealer in another state, and there is a law in his state of residency or the state of the dealer that prevents them from purchasing it directly.
You can also contact me if you have any additional questions. The fees provided on this page are subject to change. The fees shown are current as of Dec, 2014.
Shipping a firearm to another state?
We charge $47.50 plus the cost of shipping, packaging, and insurance if desired. Shipments to California are $55.00 plus the cost of shipping, packaging, and insurance if desired. Increased costs for California are due to additional paperwork needed just to ship something there.
You will need to provide the name, address, telephone number, email, and FFL number for the FFL holder at the desired destination, as well as the info for the person you are sending it to. If shipping to California, you will also need to supply the CL (Certified List) number of the receiving FFL holder.
Having a firearm shipped to you?
I charge $35.00 for receiving a firearm from another FFL holder (includes NICS Background Check Fee). If you already have your Concealed Carry Permit the charge is only $25.00. Each additional firearm will be $5.00. Please contact me before the firearm is shipped to secure permission to transfer, and to make sure all document requirements are met.
This will help to ensure that you are contacted promptly, that all the paperwork is in order, and that your firearm will be transferred to you with no unforeseen delays.
